Adopt-a-Senior 2009 A Success!
Thanks to Erwin Walker Jr. for photography support! Goshen Township participated Sunday, December 20, 2009 in their second annual "Adopt-a-Senior" gift drive benefiting senior citizens in Goshen Township.
The event was held at the O'Bannon Terrace senior apartments in cooperation with Clermont Senior Services. In total, 39 seniors received gift cards to Kroger, gifts of household cleaners, personal hygiene items, and small luxury items. This represents a massive increase from 2008; when the Township sponsored 10 seniors.
Trustee Jack Kuntz, and Trustees Elect Bob Hausermann and Ray Autenrieb came out to talk with the seniors and take part in the holiday celebration. Members of Goshen's Lion's Club were on hand with a $25 gift card for each resident of O'Bannon Terrace. Members of Girl Scout Troop 40185 were on hand to help hand out gifts to the seniors. Goshen Kroger donated a cake for the occasion.
The gift lists were filled by members of the community as well as a significant donation from the Goshen Township Fire & EMS Association. Members of the Fire Department were also on hand for the celebration.
Goshen Township wants to thank everyone who was involved in the program this year. "People were unbelievably generous. More people wanted to fill a wish list than I had wish lists to hand out," said Township Communications Director Mandy Storer, "We're looking forward to watching this program continue to grow in its third year to see just how many people we can help."
