History of the Police Department

The Goshen Township Police Department was formed by resolution of the Goshen Township Trustees on November 3, 1971.

Stanley Cable was appointed as the first Chief of Police on that date, and he was authorized by the board to employ the services of two part time patrolmen to assist him in the delivery of his duties. The department continued to function as a part time agency until 1976.

Currently, the department roster consists of 12 sworn, full time officers, one sworn part-time officer, and one non-sworn police records clerk. The agency fleet consists of seven marked road patrol units, three unmarked cars, and one van which is used for crime scene processing purposes.
