Goshen Police Buckle Down on drivers who don't Buckle Up!

The Goshen Township Police Department announces their participation in the 2009 "Click it or Ticket" campaign.

The statewide campaign focuses on an increased awareness of Ohio's seatbelt enforcement laws. Research shows drivers are less likely to buckle up in the evening hours. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says 54% of unbuckled deaths happen between the hours of 6 pm and 6 am. Last year 27 people were killed in traffic crashes in Clermont County. Martha Enriquez of Clermont County Safe Communities says about half of those victims were not wearing a seatbelt.

Goshen Township has participated in the "Click it or Ticket" campaign for several years, and in the past has even received radar units for police cruisers for their positive results.

The stepped up enforcement starts on May 18th, and will continue through May 31.

Participating agencies are eligible to receive traffic safety related incentives.
