The Goshen Horse Thief Detectives are gaining popularity!
Membership now stands at 62 members, but that's not even half of founder Jeff Corcoran's goal. Corcoran says his army of volunteer detectives won't be complete until the organization enrolls another 138 members for a total of 200 Horse Thief Detectives.
Corcoran said the organization is all about community pride, and being a part of a fun and very social organization. The group is gearing up for their next parade appearance right now. They're scheduled to appear in the Frontier Days parade in Milford on June 4th. In the time between now and then, Corcoran said the members of the Mounted Division are working to temper the horses to better deal with the distracting lights and crowds commonly associated with parades. Corcoran said the only horses allowed into the Mounted Division must first undergo a strict qualification exam, to make sure their temperament is consistent.
The group also plans to take an active role in the First Annual Goshen Gallop. The Gallop will be a community event tentatively scheduled for the end of summer.
