Don't Mess With Grandma!
Her grandkids will have quite the story to tell their friends!
53-year-old Marla Porter is being called a neighborhood hero after stopped a burglary in progress at her neighbor's house.
It happened June 9th in the 66 hundred block of Earl Drive.
Police say Stephanie Atwood caught Porter's eye after knocking on the doors of two houses. When no one answered at the second house, she disappeared around back.
Porter said she heard a twig snap, and knowing her neighbors weren't at home; she went around back to check it out. What Porter said she found was half of Stephanie Atwood sticking out of a dining room window. The other half, Porter said, was already inside the home of Betty & Sam Caudill.
Porter said she confronted Atwood, and told her she needed to come with her while she called police.
"At first she came with me," Porter said… but this story doesn't end peacefully.
Atwood had second thoughts, and made a dash for her own car. Porter said she wasn't letting this woman get away, so she reacted.
I don't know why I did it, "Porter said, "they're [Betty & Sam Caudill] my parents age and I hope someone would protect my parents. I don't know. Something said do it, so I did it."
Like a scene out of a movie, Porter wrestled the keys away from Atwood; a move Atwood did not like.
Police said Atwood kicked Porter in the chest and then bit her arm hard enough to leave teeth marks and a bruise. Then Atwood did something that really got Porter fired up … she called her old.
"She said you're an old lady, I can take you. I said, bring it on sister." Porter said that was all the ammunition she needed, "When she called me old I felt my adrenaline pump. I didn't like it."
Porter was able to call out to a nearby neighbor, 16-year-old Tyler Mentrup, and ask him to call 911.
Tyler called police, and then moved his own truck to block the roadway, making absolutely sure Atwood wouldn't be driving anywhere.
Marla Porter was able to detain Stephanie Atwood until police arrived.
Police brought Atwood into the station for questioning. During her time in the station she shattered a can of pop, and urinated on the floor of a holding room.
She was later taken to Clermont County Jail and charged with 1 count of felony burglary.
Marla Porter did see a doctor for the bite wound but is expected to be ok.
