Officer Matt Bucksath

Matt was hired in August of 1999 as a part-time police officer. Matt grew up in Pierce Township, Clermont County where he attended Amelia High School and graduated in 1991.
After high school he pursued his education as an Emergency Medical Technician and Fire fighter where he attended Dee Russell Lee Career Center and obtained his certification as a Paramedic. Matt continued his education in Public Safety when he attended the police academy through the University of Cincinnati in 1998.
Matt was hired in January of 1999 as a Firefighter-Paramedic for the City of Cincinnati. Matt served 6 years in Cincinnati where he had the opportunity to further his education by taking numerous classes on handling Weapons of Mass Destruction. Matt left Cincinnati in February of 2005 to pursue a career as a fulltime police officer with Goshen Township.
Matt continued his education once with Goshen Township where he went to school to become a police K9 handler. Matt achieved that goal and is currently partnered with “Djim”, a 6 year old Belgian Malinois. Matt and Djim obtained their certification as a K9 team through the State of Ohio in 2005. Matt and Djim have been partners for 2 years, during which time they have assisted in seizing over $6000.00 in illicit narcotics and contributed to the arrest of over 230 criminal suspects.
They continued their training and are certified through the North American Police Working Dog Association as a narcotic detection team. K9 Djim is trained and certified by the state in narcotics detection, tracking and criminal apprehension. In March of 2008 Officer Bucksath and Djim were assigned to the Clermont County Sheriff's Special Response Team. Officer Bucksath is the first officer with Goshen Township to be appointed to the team. Officer Bucksath will continue his training and education to better serve the citizens of Goshen Township.
