1-800-GRAB-DUI Leads to more than a DUI arrest!
Cops Find Drugs in an Interesting Hiding Place
A woman says the car in front of her wasn't driving straight at all, so she took control and called the DUI hot-line from State Route 28 on October 22, 2008.
Goshen police were able to track down the vehicle, and caught up with the men inside it at the parking lot of the UDF on SR 28 at Goshen Road.
Officers found 36 year old David Dincler of Blanchester behind the wheel asleep. He said that he was tired from work, but stated that he wasn't the one driving. He said his friend Shane Tucker had driven the vehicle from Dayton to Goshen, but he was tired as well. Dincler told police his friend was inside the store trying to buy something to keep him awake.
Officer Keith Clonch found 29 year old Shane Tucker of Blanchester inside the UDF store and went on to arrest him for driving with a suspended license.
During a body search on Mr. Tucker Officers Clonch and Cpl. Ron Robinson located a baggie containing a used hypodermic needle with what appeared to be heroin on it as well as 2 grams of what appears to be white heroin, and a digital scale with what appears to be heroin on it. The baggie was found in Tucker's underwear. Marijuana was also discovered during a search.
Both men admitted to using heroin that night, purchased in Dayton, and then getting behind the wheel.
"These guys wern't from Goshen, but that doesn't matter," said Police Chief Ray Snyder, "Drug and DUI offence are not something we take lightly here. Our officers are trained and ready to do whatever it takes to get these people off the streets and keep our roads safe."
Goshen police later learned the men had been involved in a hit-skip accident in Warren County from earlier in the evening. They will also face charges from that incident.
Tucker now faces charges of being under the influence of drugs, possession of drugs and drug abuse instruments as well as driving under suspension.
Dincler is facing charges of having physical control of a vehicle while under the influence or drugs or alcohol as well as being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
