Spaulding Elementary Student appears on 'Ellen'
9-year-old Sami Stephens is cooking up some local small talk, after appearing on 'The Ellen Degeneres Show' on Thursday.
The third grader won a spot in line semi-annual invention show with something she calls, "sock pizza." But this is not something you eat!
Stephens takes two circles of mesh fabric and sews them together, and then uses Velcro to seal them shut, creating a half circle design she says is perfect for washing socks.
Sami's mom Diane says the reason for the design is simple, "I've lost socks in the dryer. You know dryers eat socks!"
But not anymore!
Comedian Ellen Degeneres is getting used to introducing inventors from Goshen. Sami is the 5th Spaulding student to appear on her show in just 3 years. Last year Travis Banks, and Haley Powers were on her Show. In 2006 Paige Moore and Zack Whitley made the trip to California for a show taping.
Diane Stephens thinks it's now time for the comedian to plan a trip east, " I invited her to attend the Invention Convention on February 25, 2009. She keeps using Goshen children, so she needs to come to the Goshen School!" |
