Overnight Chase Crosses County Lines; Kills Horses

Goshen Township police arrested 31-year-old Michael J. Francis of Morrow, Ohio late Saturday (September 21,2008) night after observing erratic driving patterns on State Route 28 in Goshen.

Police gave chase, leading officers north into Blanchester and Warren County. Officers were able to slow the chase to 20 miles per hour by pulling in front of the car as Blanchester Police joined pursuit in following the driver. At this point the driver accelerated; crashing into and severely damaging the Goshen Township cruiser in pursuit.

The driver was found a short time later after crashing into a barn on State route 123 at State Route 132. Two horses inside the barn were killed as a result. The barn suffered serious structural damage.

The driver was seriously hurt and transported to University Hospital via air care. At last check he was in critical condition.

Francis is being charged with one count of Felonious Assault a felony 1, and one count of Felony fleeing and eluding a felony of the 3rd degree.
