Goshen Police Officer Speaks at National Conference
Goshen Police Officer James Taylor spoke to a large crowd of educators from all across the nation at the Duke Convention Center in Cincinnati on Wednesday (October 22, 2008). It was part of the National Convention for the Junior Police Academy.
The organization has been around since 1992, and works to create an interest in fire and police work in junior high school aged children. It is one of 16 career clusters created by the Department of Education.
Taylor said the Academy's president asked him to speak, and said he was honored to do so.
Officer Taylor sits on the Junior Police Academy National Advisory Council and helps the group develop the program. He will be in Austin, Texas after Christmas to work on new advances in the JPA.
Officer Taylor spends his days serving as the School Resource Officer for Goshen Schools. He operates Junior Police Academy camps in Goshen during the summer recess.
