Goshen Offers Trauma Training
The Goshen Township Fire & EMS Department recently held an intense trauma training course offered by Bethesda North Paramedic Education program.
The trauma training is not required by the State of Ohio in order for paramedics to receive their certification, but the hours spent in the class can be applied to the process.
"We have a lot of trauma, I'd say more trauma in this area than in surrounding areas," said Assistant Chief Loretta Burns.
Burns said a lot of drivers take Goshen's winding country roads too quickly, and wind up having accidents in which trauma happens.
This training course taught local paramedics how to quickly check for signs of shock, airway constriction, and other common medical issues associated with trauma calls. Live participants were made up to look like trauma victims, and the class was instructed to figure out what the associated trauma was and how to best treat the patient.
The training course was open to all Goshen Township Fire/EMS employees. In all, 13 Goshen Township employees took this training course. |
