Goshen Township, Ohio

Goshen Township Fire/EMS Department

Chief Virgil Murphy

Chief Virgil Murphy is originally from Mason, and has been serving Goshen Township since 1952! He's also worked with Senco Products as a fire protection specialist. Chief Murphy is a 1966 graduate of Goshen High School.

During his high school years, Virgil became involved with the Goshen Fire/EMS Cadet program. He would later become the first full time fire chief in Goshen history.

Virgil's interest in fire protection compelled him to attend numerous fire safety training courses and college courses. He has attended the Texas A&M Industrial Firefighting School, Wooster PolyTech University, Safety system Fire School, Factory Mutual Fire Safety Inspection School, and has taken courses from the state in arson investigation. Chief Murphy also has taken training to know how to work with a K-9 unit to "sniff out" fire accelerants. With all that schooling, it comes as no surprise that Murphy also serves as a state firefighting instructor.  He is a board member for then Southern Ohio Fire & EMS School, and a founding member of the Clermont County Fire Investigation Team.

Virgil and wife, Vicky have been married since 1969 and have two children.
